Literally EVERYONE knows this simple hack for perfectly peeled hard-boiled eggs.

We've all been there—trying to peel an egg only to lose half the egg white along with the shell! The popular chef hack shown in these viral posts uses hot water shock and steam to make the membrane separate effortlessly.

The Easy Chef "Hot Start" Hack

 * Start with Boiling Water: Never start eggs in cold water. Lower cold eggs straight into rolling boiling water (or a hot steamer basket). The sudden heat shock causes the egg white to shrink slightly away from the inner shell membrane.

 * Boil for 10–12 Minutes: Cook for 10 minutes for slightly soft yolks, or 12 minutes for fully hard-boiled eggs.

 * Ice Bath Transfer: Immediately transfer the cooked eggs into a bowl filled with cold water and ice cubes for 15 minutes. This rapidly cools the eggs and pulls the egg white inward, breaking the bond with the shell.

 * Shake and Peel: Place the chilled eggs in a small container with a little water, put the lid on, and shake vigorously for 10 seconds. The cracked shells will slide right off under cool running water.
