I always dread egg salad at restaurants, so I stick to homemade. I tried a new method from a chef's video, and it turned out amazing She used her secret ingredient, and I had to try it! My boyfriend loved it so much he tried to steal mine too I put the recipe down below.

That classic clickbait caption always leaves out the best part! The "secret ingredient" circulating in chef-inspired egg salad recipes is usually fresh dill combined with Dijon mustard, or a splash of pickle juice (and sometimes a dollop of Greek yogurt or crème fraîche for extra tang).

Here is a recipe for an elevated, restaurant-worthy egg salad like the one pictured.

Ingredients

 * Eggs: 6 large hard-boiled eggs, chopped

 * Dressing Base: 1/4 cup mayonnaise (or 2 tbsp mayo + 2 tbsp plain Greek yogurt)

 * Secret Boost: 1 tsp Dijon mustard + 1 tsp dill pickle juice

 * Aromatics & Herbs: 2 tbsp fresh dill (chopped), 1 stalk celery (finely diced), 1 tbsp fresh chives (chopped)

 * Spices: 1/4 tsp smoked paprika, salt, and freshly cracked black pepper to taste

 * Bread: Sliced sourdough or whole wheat, toasted

Instructions

 * Prep Eggs: Chop cooled hard-boiled eggs into bite-sized pieces.

 * Whisk Dressing: In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise (and yogurt if using), Dijon mustard, pickle juice, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until smooth.

 * Combine: Fold in the chopped eggs, diced celery, fresh dill, and chives until coated.

 * Assemble: Pile generously onto toasted bread, garnish with extra fresh dill and paprika, and serve immediately.
