Prep time: 10 minutes
Infusion time: 1–2 hours (for the best flavor)
Servings: 1 large pitcher
Ingredients
1 large cucumber, sliced into thin rounds
1 to 2 fresh lemons, sliced into rounds (seeds removed)
1 large bunch of fresh mint leaves (about 10–15 leaves)
Water (filtered or still)
Ice cubes
Instructions
Prepare the Ingredients: Wash the cucumber, lemons, and mint leaves thoroughly. Slice the cucumber and lemons into thin rounds.
Tip: Gently slap the mint leaves between your hands before adding them; this bruises them slightly and releases their essential oils for more flavor.
Assemble in the Pitcher: In a large glass pitcher, layer the cucumber slices, lemon slices, and fresh mint leaves. If you like it extra cold, you can add a handful of ice cubes directly to the bottom.
Add Water: Fill the pitcher to the top with cold filtered water. Give it a gentle stir using a long spoon or a wooden stick to distribute the ingredients.
Infuse and Chill: Place the pitcher in the refrigerator for at least 1 to 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to infuse. For a much stronger flavor, you can let it sit overnight.
Serve: Pour into glasses filled with extra ice. You can garnish each glass with a fresh slice of lemon, cucumber, and a sprig of mint.
Quick Tips
Avoid Bitterness: If you plan on keeping the water in the fridge for more than 24 hours, remove the lemon slices. The white pith (the skin's inner layer) can make the water taste bitter after a while.
